Brigman Home Services completed a landscape edging and cleanup project for a homeowner in Olive Branch, MS. The existing brick border around the planting bed was failing and crumbling, so the customer asked for a quick, affordable fix that would tidy the yard and hold up until a larger update next year.
We began by demoing the deteriorated brick border and removing all debris. With the bricks out of the way, we installed a metal edging that the homeowner wanted because it is more sleek and more affordable. The metal border provides a clean separation between the bed and the lawn without the ongoing issues the brick was causing.
After the new edging was in place, we removed all of the old mulch that had been breaking down. Clearing out the old material allowed the beds to look refreshed right away and prepared the area for new plantings when the customer is ready. Removing the old mulch also made it easier to see the true shape of the beds so future changes can be planned accurately.
While cleaning the beds we also trimmed the trees that border the area. The pruning helped open up sight lines and reduced shady spots, which will make it easier to add flowers and other plants during the next phase. The tree trimming was done with care to keep the yard balanced while improving the overall appearance.
The homeowner wanted a cost-effective, immediate solution, so this scope of work focused on making the landscape functional and neat for now. We followed their request for a quicker turnaround and a lower-cost option, and we left the site clean and ready for the next stage.
We will return next year to continue the project. Planned future work includes adding more flowers, widening the beds in selected areas, and possibly incorporating stone elements and a Japanese maple tree. Those additions will be scheduled at the customer’s request and scoped to match the overall plan for the yard.
