Brigman Home Services completed a fence and drainage project in Hernando, MS that addressed both a damaged entry gate and water building up near the home. The work combined a replacement of a double gate with a targeted drainage installation to move water away from problem areas on the property.
Our crew replaced the double gate on the fence, restoring secure access and a functional opening where the old gate had been. Replacing the gate was the first step so we could work freely along the fence line and access the areas where water was pooling.
To manage the standing water, we ran a drain consisting of corrugated pipe. This drain was routed to redirect water away from the house and the low spots where water had been building up. The corrugated pipe provided a flexible solution to follow the property contours and carry water out of the affected areas.
We also attached the existing gutter downspouts and tied them into the new drainage run. By connecting the downspouts directly into the corrugated pipe, roof runoff is guided into the drainage system instead of dumping near the foundation or low areas. This helps reduce concentrated water near the home and directs it toward a safer exit point.
As part of the drainage system, we installed two basins. These basins were placed to collect surface water and downspout flow before it entered the corrugated pipe. The basins help manage higher flows and reduce the chance of debris entering the drain line, while giving the system places to disperse water before it continues downhill.
After the drainage and fence work was complete, we restored the small disturbed areas with a bit of sod, seed, and hay. The sod gave immediate green coverage where needed, and the seed and hay helped re-establish grass in other spots. Restoring the turf reduces erosion and improves the appearance of the yard after the excavation and installation work.
